The letter D (small d) is called “D” and usually makes the sound “Duh”. Common first words are Dog, Duck, Drum.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “D… D for Dog”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with D, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
