The letter S (small s) is called “S” and usually makes the sound “Sss”. Common first words are Sun, Snake, Star.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “S… S for Sun”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with S, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
