The letter L (small l) is called “L” and usually makes the sound “Luh”. Common first words are Lion, Leaf, Lamp.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “L… L for Lion”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with L, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
