👨👩👧 For parents: teaching the letter W
The letter W (small w) is called “W” and usually makes the sound “Wuh”. Common first words are Whale, Watch, Watermelon.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “W… W for Watch”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with W, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
