The letter X (small x) is called “X” and usually makes the sound “Ks”. Common first words are Xylophone, X-ray, Xmas Tree.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “X… X for Xylophone”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with X, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
