The letter U (small u) is called “U” and usually makes the sound “Uh”. Common first words are Umbrella, Unicorn, Uniform.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “U… U for Umbrella”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with U, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
