The letter R (small r) is called “R” and usually makes the sound “Ruh”. Common first words are Rabbit, Rain, Robot.
Say the name first, then the sound, then a word: “R… R for Rabbit”. Ask your child to repeat it, find something at home that starts with R, and then trace the letter. Read more in our guide to teaching the alphabet.
